Veena artiste supports actor to feed hawkers, auto-drivers on monsoon washout days

An actor and a Carnatic music artiste have joined hands with a few others to feed Mylapore hawkers who have bad days at monsoon time.
As Cyclone Fengal’s arc battered Mylapore on Saturday and it rained all through the day, the duo made sure lunch packs reached those who had lost business and the homeless seeking shelter in temple mantapams and under the shades of shops.
‘Kavithalaya’ Krisnan, senior actor who made his name under late film director K Balachander has been a Good Samaritan at monsoon time; doing his good deed quietly and often suppprted by friends.
One such supporter is veena artiste Nirmala Rajasekar who jets in and out of Chennai from her USA base for concerts. Here for the December Season, Nirmala heard of Kishnan’s act of kindness and has lent a hand for some years now.
Said Nirmala, in a social media post – I have an understanding with a local eatery to supply food packets in and around Sai Baba and Kapaleeswar temples to the street vendors and auto drivers in Mylapore who  have bad days.
Nirmala asks Kalathi Mess to cook sambar or lemon rice, pack some 200 packets and have them distributed each day.
