Artist Muralidharan Alagar has just completed his third art work themed on the Mylapore Festival; a scene of artistes performing on the open-air stage outside the mantapam of Sri Kapali Temple, in the east zone.
Copies of this and two other art works will be sold as mounted and framed works at the Festival’s Souvenir’s Desk. Limited copies.
Designer Rajeswari Ravi pinged from Mangadu to say she and her team has converted 8 saris donated by Mylaporeans as buntings ( flags ) to decorate the Sannidhi Street square, a key venue of the fest. She wants 8 more used but colourful saris to produce another 75 mts of buntings. Wish to donate? Call Mylapore Times – 2498 2244.
If your kids want to be on the Cycle Heritage Tour headed by Ramanujar Moulana on Jan.12 of the fest, make sure the cycle is fit and you have a helmet. The tour, starting 6.45 am, takes kids to 10 heritage zones of Mylapore.
The ancient Sri Kolavizhi Amman Temple, Mylapore is the venue for a weekend of events – kolam contests, pallankuzhi and dayakattam games and two cultural shows. Open air. Held here for easy access to residents of this zone.
Eleven teams are planning their theme kolus to be put up for the exhibition at Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore ( Jan 11 and 12, 3.30 pm onwards). A first for the Festival.
This fest, the morning concerts will be held inside Sri Kapali Temple; 7 a.m. onwards – violins, vocal, keyboard and percussion.
