One man died at the Thirumylai MRTS station on Sunday night after he was said to have been pushed down by another man on to the escalator and was flung down to the ground floor in that impact.
The dead man, Lourduraj, was a rag picker.
Many homeless, drunk and nomad workers seek shelter at the station campus to sleep at night and brawls take place and then. Police say this incident must have arisen out of a brawl.
The men are said to have got into to a verbal and physical exchange that Sunday night.
Railway Police based in Thiruvanmiyur are investigating the case with the assistance of Mylapore Police .
