The Mylapore Times Karthigai Deepam contest welcomes Mylaporeans to try their hand at using lit earth lamps to create a simple design at their doorstep or drawing room space, even as the family lights up lamps for the Deepam celebration.
Bhanu and her family had a ‘dry run’ of the design they intend to create; they first drew a Rangoli, placed lamps at designated points and had a large lamp set in the centre point which had fresh flowers set at the points.
Families may use leaves and flowers, colour paper and little lamps to highlight their creativity for this contest.
