There are four Walks and One Tour planned for the 2025 edition of Mylapore Festival, wholly supported by Sundaram Finance.
All these events are free and open to all. Prior registration is not needed.
FOOD WALK – 1: On Jan.11/ 5 pm. Starts Indian Bank gate, N. Mada Street. Explore Mylapore’s iconic and new food places – led by Sridhar Venkatraman. 90mins. Pay for what you order and eat!
TOUR FOR CHILDREN ON CYCLES – TOUR 2: On Jan.12, Cycling Tour of some Mylapore landmarks – for teens with cycles; wearing helmet is a nust for safety. Start point – Rasi store gate on Sannidhi Street, near Sri Kapali Temple zone. This cycle tour is led by Ramanujar Moulana who curates cycling tours in India and abroad. All must bring their own cycles and wear helmets ( host may provide 4/5 spare helmets). Runs for 90mins. End point – Rasi store gate.
WALK 3 : On Jan.12 / 7 am. Three MylaporeTemples: Histories, Legends, Stories – is the theme of this Walk led by well-known historian – writer – speaker Dr. Chithra Madhavan. It starts outside the east gopuram of Sri Kapali Temple, covers three temples For about 90mins. ( Walk does not cover inside of any temples)
WALK 4: On Jan.12, 3 pm. Discover the World of Traditional Games on the Floor of Sri Kapali Temple – the tour is led by Vinitha Sidhartha. Starts 3 pm. at Navaratri Mantapam in temple.
WALK 5 – for CHILDREN ( parents can accompany their wards): On Jan.12, 4 pm. Themed – Three Stories of Sri Kapali Temple – this tour is led by writer-speaker-scholar Pradeep Chakravarthy. For children, 7 years and above. Starts at Navaratri Mantapam in temple, Participants are asked to bring some blank sheets of paper and colour pencils / crayons to illustrate the sights on this tour inside the temple.
