The Post Master of Mylapore Head Post Office says that the dogs which habit the post office premises off Kutchery Road have been around for over three years and have not created any problems to staff or customers.
He has responded to a report in Mylapore Times which highlighted the presence of many dogs at a public service facility.
He says that “the staff do not feed these dog sas there are instructions not to encourage stray dogs inside the Post Office and India Post quarters next door..”
He said in a statement, “We have seen members olĀ  public feeding the dogs and though we have objected people don’t listen to us.”
There are no instances of dog bites or attacks, he added. “Our office has taken measures to relocate the dogs several times but they have returned to our area.”
