The music season has started and 71-year-old K. Sukumar has decided to open the doors of his house for a minimum fee. His house is close to R R Sabha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sri Keshava Perumal Temple.
He has three rooms on the ground floor of the house.
He says, “These rooms with attached bathrooms were built for my children who live abroad. We use them only when they come for holidays, otherwise they are kept locked. I have seen people suffer without getting accommodation in lodges here and so, I decided on this move.”
He says the area is secure and there are many restaurants around.
“Elderly people will feel absolutely comfortable,” says Sukumar, who has worked in Exide Batteries and HMT, before retiring.
Two people can stay in one room and Sukumar charges Rs 500 to Rs 700 per day.
