St. Francis Xavier School, Alwarpet, recently held a Reunion that brought together alumni from as far back as the 1980 batch to the 2016 batch.
The event saw a gathering of old students who have now become grandparents, parents, and young adults, each reconnecting with their beloved alma mater in a warm, nostalgic atmosphere.
The Reunion began with an emotional and reflective session, where teachers took the stage to share their cherished memories of teaching at the school.
Teacher Teresa moved the audience with her words – she reminded everyone of the simple yet profound values that have always defined the school’s ethos. The current Headmistress also addressed the gathering.
The main guest was T. Selvakumar, an alumnus of this school and currently an additional superintendent of police with the CBI.
Mageshwari and her friends who graduated in 1993, fondly remembered their school days and their admiration for Annamma teacher.
2012 batch member Tamilselvi, the then school pupil leader, said she misses her school life. Naresh Kumar recalled the days he and his friends stared at the five-star hotel Crowne Plaza, now demolished, and the bustle at the school canteen where the Rasna drink cost just one rupee.
Many alumni we spoke to talked about some of their favourite teachers, including Manimekalai, who taught social studies, Paul Jhansi, science teacher and Brindha who taught computer science.
Kanimozhi, a member of the organizing committee, told me how they leveraged platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media to connect with friends and co-ordinate the planning of this Reunion event.
The alumni have also expressed their commitment to supporting the school in meaningful ways.
