On Constantine Joseph Beschi, also known as Veeramamunivar. Talks on Nov.8 at Dhyana Ashram

To mark the birth anniversary of Constantine Joseph Beschi, also known as Veeramamunivar, a Jesuit missionary, scholar and litterateur, a Jesuit community is holding a meet on Nov.8, 6 pm onwards at Dhyana Ashram, 25, Madha Church Road, Mandaveli.

The programme includes a book launch where Fr. Rajasekaran, editor Nam Vazhvu will preside and release the following books: 1. Veeramamunivar: A Scholar or a Saint. By Anand Amaladass SJ ( book is in Tamil)
2. A Short Catechism by Robert De Nobili. (Gñānopadecak Kurippitam) – Translated into English by Anand Amaladass SJ.

Then follows lecture one – themed – Beschi’s Innovation in Writing Dictionary in Tamil (Caturagarati) – by. Dr. Margherita Trento, French Institute, Pondicherry.

The second lecture is themed on  Beschi’s Poem, Annai Alunkal Antati. (Lamentation of Mother Mary) – talk by Prof. Casimir Tamildasan of San Thome Hr. Sec. School.

This will be followed by discussion moderated by Fr. Arockia Doss, SJ.
