Monsoon 2024: This colony co-ordinates with TANGEDCO, Urbaser and GCC to prune trees, set right cables that pose threat

As part of the pre-monsoon preparations, Chennai Corporation has been pruning trees in inner streets. But the work shows up another issue – dangling cable TV cables and these pose a danger.

In Raja Street, Poonga View and the five other streets with the kind support of the local area councillor Geetha Murali directed these operations.

In some locations where tree branches were leaning on TANGEDCO transformers – as in Kandaswamy Street and T P Scheme Road; these were trimmed too.

The RWA members of Mandaveli Raja Street and Poonga View Street managed co-ordination with the TANGEDCO team, got the staff to turn off the power so that tree pruning workers could carry out the pruning.

Post-pruning, the garden waste clearance team of Urbaser cleared the waste.

The big issue then was the dangling cable TV cables; some are so low that they can knot up motorists.

The RWA here has escalated the issue to the Chennai Corporation street light team; the staff cleared some wires / cables. Some cables were damaged while the pruning work was on.
