On a moderately chill morning, in a corner of the heart of Mylapore, the first ritual leading to the kumbhabishekam of Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple got underway.
The streets were neat and clean, streams of people, all dressed for an auspicious occasion, headed to the temple zone and the strains of nagawaram music floated in the November air.
Priests and assistants were on the makeshift platform alongside the kalasams of the gopuram of the temple, to carry out the rituals and all eyes were fixed on them, from far below.
It was the culmination of a few days of well-0organised rituals and prayers and it fell in place for the special occasion.
