At Ekadaksha Learning Centre in Mandaveli, this Deepavali was celebrated with no noise of crackers but little shows that carried a message of a safe and peaceful festival.
Many children with disabilities who are trained here have difficulties during this festival due to the noise of crackers and the pollution due to the smoke, says staff here.
“Some of them do enjoy the colours and sweets, but for many the huge amount of noise disturbs their entire system,” said a ELC staff.
Teachers at ELC dressed in costumes to share the stories behind Deepavali and about crackers and sweets making and sharing. And the students and their guardians related to the stories in their own ways.
