Denzil D’Netto, 68 years old and a San Thome resident, passed away on August 18.
He was a senior staff at Indian Overseas Bank ( IOB) in San Thome.
The eldest of four siblings, he was born 1956. The family settled in San Thome in 1966.
He studied at St. Bede’s Anglo Indian School, San Thome. He did his college studies at Loyola and was active in the Youth Hostels Association of India and for Caritas.
He joined Indian Overseas Bank ( IOB) and served at the San Thome branch; he retired in 2014.
He was an active Salesian cooperator at St Bedes, involved in social service projects for youth and managed the unit’s funds.
He was a senior team member of St Bede’s Old Boys Association ( alumni) and was treasurer for many years.
Colleagues recall that Denzil ( people close to him called him Denny) advised people on banking matters and he supported young people who needed funds or sought job avenues.
