Civic workers were employed to clean the Chennai Corporation cemetery on Saint Mary’s Road ahead of All Souls Day on November 2.
This was arranged by Our Lady of Guidance Church in R.A. Puram which has for long maintained the cemetery.
Christians observe All Souls Day on November 2 every year when they remember and pray for the departed members of their families.
They visit their graves, place flowers and light candles and offer prayers.
Fr. T. Anthony Raj, parish priest of the church in R A Puram said that on All Souls Day, many priests will go around the cemetery, blessing all the graves and holy Mass will be said at 4 pm at the cemetery.
At Our Lady of Guidance church there will be two Masses on November 2 – at 6am and at 7 am.
