St. Luke’s Church in Mandaveli lines up many events to mark patron saint feast

The congregation at CSI St. Luke’s Church in Mandaveli will celebrate the feast of their patron saint –  St. Luke – on October 18.

On that day, children of the parish will receive confirmation at a service that evening. The first floor of the parish hall that was under construction will be inaugurated by the bishop of Vellore diocese, Rev Sharma Nithiyanandam.

A new bishop for the Chennai diocese is yet to be appointed.

On October 6, Senior Citizens Day will be observed in the parish. Seniors will be honoured and given a gift. Special prayers will also be held for them
Many competitions will be held for children and adults on Oct. 6, 13 and 20.
On October 10, the church will complete it’s 115th anniversary. The church was founded in 1909. The old church was in Adam Street in Mandaveli.
The new church on R. K. Mutt Road was constructed in 1972 and renovated in 2019.
The arrangements for these events are being made by the pastor Rev. G. Dhanasekaran and the pastorate committee led by its secretary Florence Devakirubai.
