Some fish hawkers continue sales on Loop Road side. GCC, police ask them to clear up

Staff of Chennai Corporation and local police were coaxing fish hawkers who had set up stalls alongside the Marina Loop Road this Sunday morning to stop sales and move to the new market where stall spaces have been allotted.

Hawker women said that they sell fish that is caught locally and the roadside was a convenient place to sell the fish quickly.

GCC however is keen that all hawking on the busy road has to stop now. Signboards have been put up that hawking is not allowed here.

This market is a busy place on Sundays and draws people from all over Mylapore and around.

Many fish hawkers have moved into the new market but there are some problems that worry them.
