New sewage pipelines are being laid in the colonies off Marina Loop Road.
This project was approved by TN Urban Habitat Development Board
Local ward councillor Amirda Varshini says that the sewage pipes were laid as a temporary solution post 2004 tsunami, which clogged over time.
She said the existing drainage system could not handle the load as the density of people in the colonies increased.
“Chambers in coastal areas were damaged due to erosion risks. So we have reconstructed the damaged manual doors and focusing on improving the sewage flow using the motor located in Srinivasapuram, ” said the councillor.
