Newly-laid pavement in R A Puram in a mess. Workers to lay drain openings as per new norms

A recently-laid pavement on Chamiers Road off the Boat Club area is now in a mess.

Because GCC-contracted civic workers have dug up holes on the pavement every few metres in order to lay drain covers as per the recent norms that drain covers be located closely to clear blocks if they happen.

R A Puram resident Sundararaman Chintamani, who goes for walks in this area said he noticed this on Wednesday and assumed the work is for setting up drain covers and that the pavement runs atop the drain.

This could not be confirmed with any official at the spot.
