Jagadguru of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham camping in Mylapore. In city till Nov.11.

The Vijaya Yatra of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam of Sri. Sringeri Sharada Peetham to Chennai commenced on the evening of Monday, Oct 29 with pomp and piety at a Mylapore premises.

His Holiness was received with poornakumbha and recitation of Birudavali by a huge congregation of devotees at ‘Sudharma’, the residence of A. Krishnamoorthy, group chairman of Amalgamations Group, on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Mylapore.

He will remain here till Nov.6.

Mallka Srinivasan and Venu Srinivasan were amongst the dignitaries who welcomed the swamiji.

It also happened to be the auspicious occasion of the 132nd Jayanti of the 34th Acharya of the Peetham Jagadguru Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswami.

The Jayanti day sadas opened with a speech by Swami Sivagnananda of Chinmaya Mission Madurai on ‘Thoughts from Viveka Choodamani’. He spoke eloquently about this monumental work of Adi Shankara, based on the bhashyam written by the Jagadguru.

Justice G R. Swaminathan, Judge, Madras High Court spoke about how he drew inspiration from the Jagadguru’s life. He cited his landmark ruling in reopening a temple which had been closed for over a decade due to disputes between different community groups. An incident from the book “The Life and Times of HH Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati” by Prof. N. Nanjunda Sastry formed the basis of his judgment, he said.

In His benedictory address, His Holiness expressed profuse appreciation to the devotees of Chennai in organizing such a grand welcome for His entourage.

He recalled the visits made by His predecessor Acharyas to this city in the past. His visit now being marked by the Jayanti Mahotsavam of the 34th Acharya made it extra special, offered His blessings to all the devotees. After the speech, His Holiness performed Sri Sharada Chandramouleeswara Puja.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the devotees to participate in the pujas and bhiksha vandanam of the Acharya at this venue. A separate dining area is also set up for the benefit of the visiting devotees.

The Acharya is in Chennai till November 12. He will take part in a few events too.

Pujas are held every morning and evening and open to the public; the organisers put out details of daily schedule only a day in advance.

Below is the overall schedule of the Jagadguru with events in and around the city.

  2. Based on my lecture series for the Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation (SVBF North), USA, I have just completed a book on ‘The Glory of the Great Mother Goddess in Lalitha Sahasranamam.’ I would like this book to be released by His Holiness Sri Sringeri Sannidhanam. Whom do I contact in this regard? Appreciate your guidance. Thanks.

    1. Contact CEO & Administrator Sri. Murali, personally at the Camp. Or through your contacts in SVBF. Or Sri. Krishnan of Vidyatheertha Foundation.

  3. Can General public visit the place and seek His blessings. Or any prior permission is required because I find that the gate of this bungalow is always closed.

    1. Public entrance to the Venue is from a gate on the eastern side, after turning left into a side road just adjacent to Axis Bank, at the traffic signal.
