People who just have to be at Sri Kapali Temple for any occasion, streamed in after the skies shared a light drizzle even as other parts of Chennai got some light rain. In the mantapam inside, the ambal on a anna vahanam was in all her finery, pink standing out on her.

Volunteers had created a theme kolam like design cloeby, and they intend to present a theme every evening.

Next door, the music fest of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan opened, with vocalist Gayatri Girish on stage for the evening’s second concert.

Music also opened the music, dance and drama fest at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Students Home auditorium with vidwan Seshampatti Sivalingam and his co-artistes performing here; a large kolu adorning one side of the stage and hostelites dominating the audience.

People streamed into Sri Kolavizhi Amman temple where the ambal was in the alankaram of the day; a concert by children was on in the mantapam.

Dance concerts are going on at Sri Virupakseeswarar Temple too.

And at the Nandala Centre on Dr Ranga Road, volunteers offered an inviting plate of sundal and fruits to people.
