59 children enjoyed colouring and writing post card for Deepavali. The cards are on their way to friends. This was a Mylapore Times event

59 children of Mylapore created a theme Deepavali greeting card, wrote a message for their family or friend and helped Mylapore Times post those cards on Tuesday.

This was part of a Post Card Making Contest organised by the newspaper.

The beautifully coloured cards were posted at Mylapore Post Office and will reach the addressee anytime today or latest by Saturday. ( Photo 1 shows MT staffer Kumar posting the cards at the PO)

This is the first time that the newspaper has combined the idea of art and the waning practice of post card writing for an event. And of the 95 cards that were asked for, 59 people responded. ( Photo 2 shows MT staffer Shanthi sorting the post cards received in the office)

Ten children will get prizes for their well-designed cards. Prizes will be sent to them on the weekend. The judge is at work on Deepavali eve!

Mylapore Post Office staff helped process the posting. Artist Priya Natraj created the colouring outlines and Deepam Sweets, Inch Fit, JFA and Sai Supermarket were the gifts sponsors.

  1. I am a regular reader of Mylapore Times and find that the quality of English is getting worse. An example is the second paragraph in this article that reads “Ten well designed cards will get for the children comma prizes comma which will be sent to them on the weekend “.
Would be nice if someone could actually edit the articles keeping grammar in mind.

    1. Thanks for the feedback; we appreciate it. We rewrote what was a long-winded sentence. We are a small team and we welcome volunteers to the desk to support in positive ways!
