Quiet mornings at temples: Sri Vinayaka Chathurti festival

Mornings were quiet at Mylapore’s neighbourhood temples dedicated to lord Vinayaka on Saturday when Vinayaka Chathurti was celebrated.

At the Sri Navashakti Vinayaka Temple in Luz ( first photo) , now dwarfed by the barricades and cranes at the Chennai Metro work sites, and at Sri Bala Vinayaka Temple on Warren Road ( photo below), people streamed in early, prayed and moved on.

A nagaswaram team of artistes set the mood at the temple on Warren Road, the music floating around the temple premises.

Later in the evening, a procession of Sri Vinayaka was taken out from the Sri Siddhi Buddhi Vinayaka Temple in R A Puram. ( photo below)
