The campus of Dr. MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women in R A Puram turned into a Onam celebration mela on Sept.13.
Over 4,000 students soaked in the Onam festivities. Students from the M.A. Natya Department and the Entrepreneurial Cell had organised and managed a series of dances and a the Onam sadya (which was more of a street food zone).
Dr. Kumar Rajendran, chairman, Dr. MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, said that the college celebrates many festivals in a grand manner to expose students to various cultures.
On Friday, the campus resounded to Chanda Melam, Kai kotti kali and Mohini Aatam besides acts of Puli Kali and Kerala nadanam.
A beautiful boat setting on campus created some mood too.
Students were encouraged to wear the Kerala style of sarees and later, sampled the special food laid out at counters.
