A Onam themed cultural fest begins this evening at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. It is open to all. It is on till Sept.13 with a variety of Kerala’s cultural strands – music, folk and dance – on stage.
The Bhavan’s deputy director K. Venkitachalam says that this fest is hosted to present to people the rich cultural legacy of Kerala.
Scheduled at the fest is a Kathakali performance, a Thiruvathirakali dance, Sopanasangeetham, a traditional form of devotional music from Kerala, performed in temples and during religious ceremonies, known for its melodic and rhythmic intricacies and Kerala Natanam: a traditional dance form.
