Kerala food dominates menu at this San Thome restaurant. Tea and snacks nook open 24 hrs

Kerala food San Thome restaurant

The north end of San Thome High Road has come alive in recent times. A few food spaces have opened and each seems to be doing its best to draw in clients. Being a ‘one-way’ road due to Chennai Metro work regulations, parking is not a problem for diners who head here at night.

One restaurant that seems to satisfy the wants of foodies is The Coastal Taste; it came up after the Dawat restaurant closed down.

This place seems to promote its Kerala menu well. And those who have been dining here often, come for more of it.

At lunch time, you can order a Kerala-themed food plate; the non-vegetarian plate is popular. Available from noon till about 3.30 p.m.

The Kerala menu stars all the standard fare – seafood, chicken, beef and some vegetarian fare too.

The beef ularthiyathu, slow roasted meat in a spicy mix ( Rs.280), a combo of puttu and kadala curry (Rs.250) and kappa biryani ( Rs.300) – just to mention a few on this menu.

The menju also includes north Indian and Chinese food, besides fresh fruit juices.

The restaurant is spread over two floors and gets packed on weekends.

A nook located off the parking space here serves tea, coffee, juices and light snacks and the staff tell us that since it is open till around 2 a.m., it is patronised well even past the midnight hour.
