Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi was the chief guest at the finale event held to commemorate the golden jubilee of P. S. Educational Society on Sept.7 at a hall in the P S School campus.
Meanwhile, the president of the Society, K.V.S. Gopalakrishnan has two projects on his table as the golden jubilee celebrations of the Society unfold.
One – to develop a teachers skills development academy to upgrade the skills of the P. S. Schools’ teachers, internally.
Two – to roll out an annual health screening programme for all teachers. “We want to ensure our teachers are cared for closely,” he says.
Meanwhile, the Society has a few other projects to nurture. The nursery and primary school near Mundagakanni Amman Temple zone which was upgraded to a higher secondary school needs guidance and support.
The Society is happy that its first venture outside Mylapore zone, managing a school promoted by a private real estate company in the industrial zone of Oragadam is doing well.
At P. S. Senior, the Society is keen to sustain the ‘Beyond Boundaries’ project which hosts professionals to speak to senior students at lectures to enhance their domain knowledge. At P. S. Higher Secondary School, the Society keeps looking to enhance its scholarships since the school educates teens from poor economic backgrounds.
Gopalakrishnan says that a fund was created in P. S. Charities which is tapped exclusively to support ex-P. S. School students who need money for their higher studies.
