The Mylapore Times contest asking Mylaporeans to create a eco-umbrella for lord Vinayaka at festival time drew a good response, with some 40 entries from the neighbourhood.
People used all kinds of materials for this purpose – raw vegetables and waste paper and chart board, palm and betel leaves, paper plates, match sticks and even beads to create the umbrella.
These were the five winners –
