Deputy Mayor Mahesh Kumar and the GCC RDC officer on Friday also inspected the new storm water drain that is being built in the areas of Apparswamy Koil Street, P S Sivaswamy Salai and around.
The team was inspecting GCC works to address flooding issues that crop up at monsoon time.
This is one of the areas which not only floods badly but witnesses sewage polluting the water and creating a nasty atmosphere.
In the past, boats had to be deployed here long after the flooding to evacuate seniors from local houses.
One key issue that has failed in the existing SWD system is the manner in which drains from the west side are led into those on the east across the R H Road. The shoddy work does not allow for free flow towards the Canal and hence flooding.
