Sri Krishna jayanthi falls on August 26, Monday and households across Mylapore must be preparing to welcome the lord in their own colourful style.
While making sweets and savories for the lord is still widely prevalent, buying ‘customised prasada items’ from shops also happens.
To cater to the needs of customers who prefer to have a full set of prasadam for Neivediyam, Deepam Sweet and Karam in R A Puram has come up with customised festival jute bags with 11 items including uppu seedai, vella seedai, kai murukku, kadala urundai, aval, manoharam and adhirasam.
Customers can also get individual prasadam items from this store.
“We are offering Krishna jayanthi festival bags in two sizes – one for Rs 600 and another for Rs 300. The items will be available from August 21. Our staff will deliver the bags to customers who place orders before hand; our area of coverage is Mylapore, Royapettah and Mandaveli. Customers who live far away will have to get the bags through Dunzo,” says R. Maniraju, proprietor, Deepam Sweet and Karam.
Uppu Seedai, Vella Seddai and Kai murukku are all Deepam’s specials.
“Our team of 10 traditional cooks makes the items using top quality ingredients,” says Maniraju.
He says his customers love the very look of the murukku and its suttu.
“In the bags, we give two suthu murukku, but we also take orders for 5, 7 and 9 suthu murukku for any function,” says Maniraju.
