Rain: some streets are water-logged, potholes show up, sewage pollutes

Steady rain on Sunday and early Monday has caused flooding in some areas of Mylapore.

Some areas which are always at the messy end when it rains, continue to face problems as seen on Monday, August 5 when we did the rounds of some areas of Mylapore zone.

Luz Avenue, where extensive civic work has been on for some weeks now, is potholed and holds rainwater all over the place; the road is slushy and since part of it takes the Chennai Metro-caused diverted traffic, is messy. ( first photo)

Nothing seems to have been set right or if set right, does not seem to have solved civic issues that plague P S Sivaswami Salai off Vivekananda College zone right up to the junction at Royapettah High Road.  Water stagnated for hours, wesage leaked out from teh drains and the whole area was a span of polluted dirty water. East Abiramapuram 1st Street was water-logged. It is not clear if the drains are able to channel the water here.
