Chettinad Vidyashram hosted its 39th annual Sports Meet on July 28 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The event was graced by chief guest D. Jaisankar, IAAS – principal accountant
general (Audit – I).
The school and national flags were hoisted, then followed the march-past led by the school band and this featured the prefectorial body, NCC cadets, V-Care club members and students from the four Houses—Emerald, Pearl, Ruby, and Sapphire.
House captains and sports achievers ignited the Olympic torch and took an oath, ceremonially inaugurating the sports meet.
The high point of the day was an impressive mass drill by primary children showcasing Olympic sports like
fencing, swimming, and gymnastics through dance movements and colourful props.
The guests were also treated to a medley of cultural dances by the school children and a display of yoga asanas by the yoga students.
Athletics events followed
The chief guest awarded prizes and trophies to the winners of various events. The trophy for the Best House was awarded to Emerald.
