Mylapore Hindu Permanent Benefit Fund: depositors to hold protest on July 19

A group of depositors of The Mylapore Hindu Permanent Benefit Fund who are motivating people who are having trouble getting their deposits back or have not received interests for months, have decided to stage a second protest at the Fund office gate in Mylapore on Friday, July 19.

They say they are meeting and protesting again because the local police have not responded to a batch of complaints that were given to the Mylapore ACP, Vivekanandan, when the first protest was held here.

The group of protestors also want all Fund depositors to send individual complaints to the inspector of the TN Economic Offences Wing  based in Ashok Nagar ( inside the Police Training College campus).

Complaints must carry detailed notes on the deposits made, delayed interests / refunds, proof of delays, copies of cheques which bounced.

Said Mohan, a Adambakkam resident who is guiding this protest campaign, “Unless lots of complaints are received by the police, action will not be forthcoming. Depositors who have kept away from complaining officially must do so now if we are to get the the state to grant us relief.”

Some depositors have been submitting complaints to the Mylapore ACP desk on Kutchery Road, which says it forwards them to the Economic Offences Wing.

“The Fund’s representatives are abusing and threatening depositors who seek their monies at the Mylapore office and this is reprehensible,” said Mohan.
