CSI Church of the Good Shepherd in Mylapore, celebrated Mission Festival on Sunday,July 7.
This day is celebrated in memory of missionary Bartholomaus Ziegenbalg who is considered to be the first missionary to India.
He mastered Thamizh after setting foot in Tamil Nadu and is said to have translated the New Testament into Thmizh. He is also credited for bringing the printing press to Tamil Nadu.
At the church, many stalls were set up for church-goers to shop and snack after the Sunday service.
Revenue from these sales went to a fund that supports missionaries.
The event was organised by Rev. Enose, the new pastor who took charge of this parish in early June, Sudhakar Immanuel, secretary of the pastorate committee and Sugirson, treasurer .
