Now that schools have re-opened Kalvi Varu Street has gone back to being a chaotic space in the hours leading to schools opening and closing for the work day.
The chaos is created by motorists who flout the ‘one way’ rule which disallows traffic flowing in from Kutchery Road.
People on two-wheelers and in cars who ferry school students from the core Mylapore zone zip into Kalvi Varu Street, making life difficult for motorists moving north to south to exit from this street.forces people
Little can be done to prevent people from flouting the ‘one way ‘ rule here since the diversion of traffic due to Chennai Metro work at Luz Circle forces people to look for and use shortcuts, especially when it comes to dropping off and picking up school kids.
