Lok Sabha elections: DMK’s Thamizhachi Thangapandian declared elected from Chennai South

It was around 2:30am that the returning officer handed over to Thamizhachi Thangapandian alias T Sumathi of the DMK the Certificate of Election, the formal instrument that declared the candidate elected to the Lok Sabha from Chennai South.
She has been re-elected for a second term as MP.
Elections were held on April 19.
State minister Ma Subramaniam and Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu were present at this event, besides many DMK party cadres.
There were some hiccups in the counting process with some EVMs stuttering and this prolonged the process past the midnight hour at Anna University campus.
Thamizhachi had a comfortable lead by noon time and when it became evident that she was going to win, her closest rival, the BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan left the place, loking really tired after the long stay at the counting centre.
A large part of Mylapore zone falls under Chennai South.
Thamizhachi is a resident of Neelankarai.
