Fr. Arulraj bids goodbye to community of San Thome cathedral

Fr M. Arulraj has bid goodbye to the community of St Thomas Cathedral, San Thome where he served as parish priest for three years. He was transfered to a church in the Retti Eri zone of the diocese.

He has handed over charge of Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai.

The senior priest listed two issues that he felt had engaged him – planning and organising the free wedding of fifty couples from economically weak families of the city diocese, which called for raising lots of funds since the couples were given support in cash and kind.

He also said he had helped raised funds to award scholarships for economically weak students of the parish. Plus, he and his parish council members had done much to support families who were badly hit by the pandemic.

Fr Arulraj said that since the cathedral was a pilgrim and tourist destination, many people who treated this as a stopover sought overnight accommodation.
