It has been a quiet start to the Chithirai festival at Sri Madhava Perumal Temple in Mylapore, which had its grand kumbhabishekam recently.
The evening of May 1 was reserved for a procession of the lord in the punnai maram vahanam. About a hundred odd devotees, mostly from the temple zone, took part in the rituals leading to the procession.
The heat is keeping off people between 11 am and 5 pm. The daytime temperature is around 39 degrees.
