The process for polling in Elections 202 has begun on Thursday, April 18.
This afternoon, EVMs and all materials required at the polling booths were moved out of the storage spaces inside Rani Meyyammai Sshool campus in R A Puram and these were transported to booths across the R A Puram – Alwarpet and Mylapore – San Thome zone by vans and under security.
Once these reached the booths where designated staff had already reported, the machines, other needs and materials were unloaded and handed over.
At the booths, by 4 p.m. the three tables, EVM and the VVPAT set and the rest were in place. The sheets displaying the names, parties and symbols of all candidates were also displayed.
At 4.30 pm when we visited the booth at a GCC School on St Mary’s Road near the church, the arrangemenets were almost in place.
