A ecumenical Palm Sunday procession will be taken out in San Thome this Sunday.
The congregations of three local area churches – of San Thome Basilica, the CSI St. Thomas Tamil Church and CSI St Thomas English Church will assemble at St. Raphael’s Girls Higher Secondary School campus at 7 am and, under the leadership of the priests at these churches, take out a procession – each group then branching of to their respective churches for the Palm Sunday services.
Palm Sunday signals the start of the Holy Week that the Church observes – commemorating events that led to the condemnation, crucifixion and death and resurrection of Jesus.
A ecumenical event brings different streams of Christians together for a religious purpose and this service has been held in San Thome on this occasion for some years now.
