Though Traffic Police have diverted all traffic headed south at the Light House point, to take Marina Loop Road, due to Chennai Metro project work to commence here, students and local residents who travel by cycle or bike or elders transported by autos are being allowed down San Thome High Road.
But school-bound vans which cater to the 10-plus schools in San Thome zone are not allowed – they must take the diversion route and swing into San Thome from the Pattinapakkam side.
With exams going on in all campuses, many students are making it a point to start early to school to avoid traffic jams and handle the diversions.
