Bharatanatyam guru K. J. Sarasa is remembered every year by her prime sishyas with a dance fest in Mylapore.
And for 2024, this fest is to be on Feb.10 and 11 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
On Day One, Feb.10, Sarasa’s student Vidya Valli will perform. 5 p.m. Thereafter is an awards event – honours for leading artistes and critics. The final show is a dance recital by Sarasa’s sishya and festival curator, Shanmugha Sundaram and his sishyas, who are all transgenders.
On Day two, the dance recitals are by Charumathi Chandrasekran and by Srikanth and Aswathy and then, the dancers at the Balasaraswati Institute.
The concerts are open to all.
