The community at Rani Meyyammai Towers, MRC Nagar, had a grand four-day Pongal celebration.
An effort was made to recreate the atmosphere of a village; then, residents danced around a bonfire, planted rice saplings and cooked samathuva chakkarai pongal the traditional way.
The young and the seniors decorated their lobbies with creative festive decor —cutouts of cows, pongal paanai, sugarcane, thematic kolams, 3D village hut and merry-go-round models.
The community enjoyed a spectacular programme of traditional dances—puli aatam, oyil aatam, mayil aatam, thappattam, and karagattam performed by folk artistes.
Fun-filled races for children, a zippy carnival and an entertainment programme – the last was where residents showcased their talents.
