Rangolis and pongal-cooking were part of a festival Mass at Cathedral

The community at St Thomas Cathedral in San Thome incorporated the festival of Pongal into a special Holy Mass at a celebration held on January 16 at the church campus.

The morning began with group rangoli design and display, followed by teams cooking pongal in the open.

Once the two events were over, the community joined a  short procession that was led by the parish priests into the Cathedral to celebrate Holy Mass.

The pots of pongal the parishioners had made were placed at the foot of the altar which was decorated with flowers and sugarcane.

Fr. A. Arul Raj and his brother priests celebrated Mass.
