Mylapore’s Mada Streets woke up to the music of chanting and of instruments this morning; margazhi season is over but the members of the Swami Gnanananda Bhajan Mandali with its base in Mandaveli had started at dawn to celebrate the prana pratishtha at the newly built Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya which took place today, January 22.
Towards, 6.30 am things got going at R R Sabha, Mylapore – there was devotional music, Shri Rama Bhajanam and a string of discourses by acharyas. People filed in slowly through the morning. ( Photo below)
At The Grove School, Saraswathi Kendra which is located in the Eldams Road campus of C.P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation in Alwarpet, the student community sat around the images of Lord Rama and Sita, with music and classical dance.
It was an early start to events at Sri Karpaga Vinayakar Temple in R A Puram – the abishekam started around 6.30 am and was followed by recitation of Veda Parayanam and Vishnu Sahasranamam.
The event was organised by R A Puram Bhakta Jana Sangam,. ( first photo).
The community at Madhava Niwas located near Sri Madhava Perumal Temple, Mylapore got together to pray and sing bhajans on this occasion. They pooled resources to share light meal with those present.
In the evening, at Arkay Centre, Luz scholar Dr Sudha Seshayyan gave a talk and this was followed by a classical music concert by vocalist Palghat Ramprasad.
