Artist Gita’s statement –
My paintings in this exhibition are inspired by the temple murals of Tamilnadu, the earliest of which are thousand years old. My contemporary works are also based on ancient sculpture and architecture and hence I was easily drawn
to them and the artistic spirit that informs them. These murals were painted with natural pigments, ready to hand and thus have a limited colour palette.
