The biggest community driven New Year celebration in Mylapore zone was around that P. Orr fill the & Sons set up clock tower roundabout on Kamaraj Salai alongside the Marina.
While police curtailed and then diverted the traffic after 11 p.m. people began to fill the crowd the road space, the people around the illuminated roundabout were singing and dancing.
As the clock struck 12, the crowd cheered, hugged and danced even as firecrackers zoomed up and burst in the night skies.
It was a peaceful gathering of people. Simple.
