One of the thoughtful responses from the state post-cyclonic weather and record rain was to address personal and health issues of women and children.
Teams of the Department of Health and Family Welfare visited many areas of Mylapore zone, as they did across the city, and distributed sanitary napkin boxes for women.
Councillor Amirda Varshini says that when this team sought her assistance, she led them to areas like the colonies off Marina Loop Road and Kara-kuttai in Mandavelipakkam and Vaniyampathi in Mandaveli where women in small houses needed such support.
Amirda says with donations from well-wishers and her own funds, milk was bought and distributed to the needy.
