The Mylapore Post Office had to be shut down for a day last week after water flooded its premises off Kutchery Road.
The flood waters made access to the ground floor and basement offices impossible.
The access to the section that handles services like Aadhar cards and the PO bank and ATM were also flooded.
The flood waters also marooned people who reside in the India Post quarters on this campus.
Also, a few trees alonsgide the gates of the office were battered by the cyclonic weather and a couple of them that slanted to one side had to be trimmed so that they did not pose a danger to people.
