Archbishop Rev. George Antonysamy was the chief celebrant at the Christmas Holy Mass that was held in the open air at the St Thomas Cathedral in San Thome close to midnight on December 24.
Parish priest Fr. Arulraj and a few other priests joined the archbishop at the celebration.
The campus was packed to the walls for the midnight Mass, celebrated in Tamil, which began with a medley of carols sung by the Tamil choir.
After the Mass, Rev. Antonysamy cut a mega cake and shared it first with a few children. Cake pieces were then shared with the congregation.
Earlier, Holy Mass in English was celebrated for the congregation at an auditorium at St. Bede’s School, next door.
