P S Higher Secondary School and the school’s1975 SSLC batch of alumni celebrated Mahakavi Bharati 142nd birth Anniversary, in memory of their batchmate Ashok Iyer (1959-2023) at TAG auditorium in the school premises.
Trophies and certificates were given to about 150 students from over 30 schools of south Chennai.
Vaidehi Harish, a Bharatha Natyam dancer was the chief guest; she presented the trophies to the winners
M S Sundara Rajan, retired CMD of Indian Bank and alumni association chair, presented the certificates to all winners and participants.
Popular cinema director Kathir, collegemate of Ashok Iyer, participated and was honoured with a clay art figure of Bharathiyar which was created by three students of the school.
Over 1000 books of works of Bharathiyar were disturbed.
